last visit..

pause for thought
click image for pop-up click here to download

it's been a few months since i posted anything, my camera broke and i took my life (plus my take on life) back into the private realm, and as it's already slowed down so much I'm pulling 29fragiledays to a halt. There are people that only know me through this videoblog, so when i stop filming my life, does that mean my life stops, I don't think so. My videos are still out there, and more will keep appearing, but not here. Thanks to everyone who has enjoyed what they found so far. If you've never seen any then have a look at first visit

first visit?

If you're not sure what this videoblog is about then here are 4 of my favourite videos to get you started. If you're interested by what you see then click on the comments link at the bottom of this entry to add your thoughts.

click on the images to see the movies, they'll open in a small pop-up window, each one is about 30secs long and around 2mb in size) or download them here if the pop up doesn't work -

- , , i'm yours you're mine, -

Most of the stuff I post here is documentary, not planned and staged, just captured. I film using a little digital stills camera, and then treat the image and sound to help focus the ideas I'm presenting, and often write some music. You'll need to have quicktime to view these films, although some of them are available as flash movies in the archive.

I stole the idea of a 'first visit' post from daniel at pouringdown.blogspot.com, if you haven't already seen his videoblog forget looking at my stuff and go there now, not only does he have great ideas about presenting stuff to new visitors, but he regularly produces beautiful and emotive films that truly embody the ideas John Grierson used to define - 'the creative treatment of actuality'

reduction 2 (seoul, south korea)

, south , one photo taken every minute from sunrise to sunset. another collaboration with documentary photographer Alistair Ruff. this is a larger file than normal from me, but it's hard to compress it smaller and kep the quality of individual images.

stress relief - vlog anniversary

memory has always intrigued me, maybe because mine is constantly broken in different ways. thank you to sita for telling me this one.

p.s.
this is also my one year videoblogging anniversary, (but you're certainly not going to get a 'best of' reel, schlomo will tell you why.. and there's only a couple of real gems in the archive anyway.) - in my current mood the closest i'm going to get to celebration is to post 2 videos on one day, just as I did on the 19th April 2005.
but i would like to send out a big thank you to all those out there who've helped and inspired me with this miniature online video stuff, you know who you are. be well.

tragopan

so it's been quiet here for a while, my mind has been in other places. this is a little sketch before i start a little fragile days project i've been thinking about for a while, and seeing as the first anniversary of this site is coming up it seems as good a time as any to start a project!

this is footage of a tragopan , filmed in Somerset, not its natural habitat by a long way, but a place where its survival is being helped by studying the breeding and courtship patterns.

reduction

click here for video (quicktime 6.3mb)

on the longest day of 2005 my friend alistair ruff walked through london from sunrise to sunset taking a photograph every minute.
They are presented as a film, but you can pause the video to look at them as individual images, i enjoy the fact these different viewing modes exist.
